Today is suffocating. And I mean, there is absolutely no wind. We are currently hitting about 40 Celsius and boy, can you feel it!
A little accompaniment to this entry as I have had this damn song in my head all day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPNhV1gF008
In other news, there is no work today because it marks the Araw ng Kagitingan, or Day of Valor. This is celebrated to mark the day that our soldiers in WWII walked what we call the Bataan Death March, where the Japanese having still had control over the Philippines, made captured soldiers walk, and left those who were dying and thirsty, and abused the rest. To read more about this time in our history (and if you don’t know it, I think you SHOULD), click on this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bataan_Death_March
For those who are pregnant or have kids, I have been reading the book “Bringing Up Bebe…” (http://www.amazon.com/Bringing-Up-B%C3%A9b%C3%A9-Discovers-Parenting/dp/1594203334) and it has really opened my eyes to a new way of parenting. Look, I stand by the thought that, whatever works for you, WORKS, so just keep doing that. For me, I’ve just felt like as a new mom, I’ve been bombarded by well meaning people about all of these different ways of raising my child. I’m thankful for some, but more often than not, I believe that others are really just discouraging, focusing on things I’m doing wrong instead of helping me understand why I shouldn’t do whatever it is I’m doing that they disagree with. I’m a new mom and even before I had my baby, am a worrywart. Add a baby into the mix, I can now be crowned Ms. Paranoia 2014. This book (thank you so much to my cousin who gave it to me!) has helped me take a breath, and gives me reasons why I not only SHOULD take a breath, but that I shouldn’t feel guilty about it. I’m posting about it because it has helped me breathe, and I hope, if there are some other new mothers out there reading this (or even old mothers), that this will give you some respite and encourage you that YOU ARE DOING OK.
This is such sad news. He was a huge part of my childhood, along with Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant, Jake the Snake and the GLOW ladies. RIP http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2014/04/09/the-ultimate-warrior-dead-at-54/?tid=hp_mm
Being a huuuuuge Potter fan (I will be mentioning Harry Potter a few times throughout this blog hahaha!), this blew me away. The news of a continuation of the series is already getting me giddy. http://www.hypable.com/2014/04/07/beedle-the-bard-three-brothers-short-film/?onswipe_redirect=no
I am also a big fan of Star Wars, and these prints, I believe, need to be on my wall 😉 http://designtaxi.com/news/364946/Striking-Illustrated-Star-Wars-Propaganda-Posters/
This was just something pretty 😉 http://designtaxi.com/news/364951/A-Stylish-A-Z-Guide-To-Dance-Styles/
And who do you guys think should be inducted from this list? http://www.rollingstone.com/music/lists/20-artists-eligible-for-the-rock-and-roll-hall-of-fame-next-20140408 Still trying to make my mind up, truthfully.
Oh and because I’m OC about stuff, especially now I have a little one, I would really rather not use anything too heavy with chemicals so when I saw this, My heart danced with joy. I already use white vinegar, baking soda, lemon/oranges, and hydrogen peroxide so this just extends my happiness in concocting little cleaning elixirs for the house: http://www.buzzfeed.com/peggy/how-to-clean-almost-anything-and-everything?bffb
And last but not least, my country has finally passed this into law. MABUHAY 🙂 http://www.gov.ph/2012/12/21/republic-act-no-10354/
Good day to you all, or good evening or night to some 😉
