Stuff I saw from my subscriptions mailbox today

Today being a holiday, I thought I would tackle sifting through my email box and sorting some stuff out, especially in under the “SUBSCRIPTION” folder.

I started at 10am. It is now nearly 7pm. What the hell.

But nonetheless, I’ve found some gems that I wanted to share πŸ™‚

I love the site The Kitchn. I love to cook (and eat), and this site has always given me interesting ideas to feed people with.Β  Because I’m a full time working mom, I try to keep things simple, healthy, at the very least not processed, and something that can be heated up in 10mins. Let’s be honest: there are A LOT of days that I come home and the last thing I want to do is pretend to be Ina Garten, even if I want to be her, and swish around the kitchen plopping things into a pan I know I will have to clean later anyway. Plus, yeah, the tropical heat.Β  So I love the idea of cooking huge batches of stuff, and sticking it in the freezer.Β  This entry is awesome: http://www.thekitchn.com/10-freezer-meals-for-busy-weeknights-193608?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Kitchn%2081913%20-%20Freezer%20Meals&utm_content=Kitchn%2081913%20-%20Freezer%20Meals+CID_68529bbcc7e2824f8d4a1fe377e371f7&utm_source=email_newsletter&utm_term=10%20Freezer%20Meals%20for%20Busy%20Weeknights

I love steak. I love Vietnamese food. Put the two together and I am a happy bunny: http://www.saveur.com/article/Recipes/Vietnamese-Style-Steak?cmpid=enews081913&spPodID=020&spMailingID=5656289&spUserID=MzE1NDg4ODQyNjMS1&spJobID=330397115&spReportId=MzMwMzk3MTE1S0

My hubby loves squid so I think I will make this sometime soon πŸ™‚ http://www.saveur.com/article/Recipes/Stuffed-Calamari?cmpid=enews090213&spPodID=020&spMailingID=5685354&spUserID=MzE1NDg4ODQyNjMS1&spJobID=333763601&spReportId=MzMzNzYzNjAxS0

I’ve been on a sandwich making kick lately and this landed in my mailbox. The basil outside is getting unruly so I think I will make this next week πŸ™‚ http://www.thekitchn.com/recipe-california-blt-with-avocado-and-basil-mayonnaise-173957

And because this summer seems to be dragging on forever (it just started and I want it to end already), here are some summer recipes πŸ™‚

I also love SAVEUR. If you haven’t seen it, I suggest you click on this link. This recipe is for dolmades, a favorite of mine, just hard to find grape leaves here in Manila πŸ™‚ http://www.saveur.com/article/Recipes/Dolmades-Stuffed-Grape-Leaves

If you like eggs as much as I do, check this recipe out. Seems simple enough, right? http://smittenkitchen.com/blog/2014/04/baked-eggs-with-spinach-and-mushrooms/

This post is just cool. If you haven’t subscribed or looked at the blog BRAIN PICKINGS, I suggest you do, especially if you’re a reader. They have awesome posts like THIS one: http://www.brainpickings.org/index.php/2014/04/16/fictitous-dishes-dinah-fried-book/

And how lovely and a little eerie are these pictures from INSIDE musical instruments, or rather what the artist thought they would look like:

Ok off the computer I go. Need to indulge in some “mommy time” with my books πŸ™‚Β  I’ll leave you with a little Liz Phair of yore. Twas her birthday the other day πŸ™‚ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tM60GAPIXTY
