Things around the Net

Thought I’d drop in and share a few things I saw online the last few days.

I’m now in the mood that I’m looking through houses and just loooooove the movies of Nancy Meyers.  After watching “It’s Complicated”, “The Holiday”, and “Something’s Gotta Give”, I’ve come to the conclusion that my dream house that’s in my brain is nearest to the layout of Meryl Streep’s house in “It’s Complicated.”

My goodness that KITCHEN!  And it has that courtyard in the middle and a vegetable garden in the back. So my thing. SO SO SO MY THING.

So following that, I saw these rest houses. GORGEOUS NOH?

Following my New Year’s resolution of trying to get rid of plastic in my home, there’s THIS READ that seems to have more ideas for me to keep going. The straws have been mostly successful so again, fantastic!

Robert De Niro and Al Pacino are two of my favorite actors, mostly because of the Godfather really, but this is a great site to read up on those celebrities without all the other hoopla.  There are some conversations that are awesome, at least a little more serious that the stuff that’s flying about.

Do you want to test yourself with this spectrum test? It seems that I am a tetrachromat. I really don’t like yellow.

Oh and here. I love to travel in trains and I haven’t had the chance to do so in such a long while, but I love the whole romance that goes with it.  These trains are giving me DREAAAAAAAMS. These are insane! I want to sign up for all of them!!

I haven’t been able to try any of these, but I want to.  I’ve only been able to make eggs in the microwave, but I wouldn’t mind trying the others 🙂

If there are any fellow parents out there reading this blog of mine, would you know if this book actually works? Soooo tempted to get it from Amazon. Let me know if you have a review! It will be much appreciated.

And now I will leave you with this mesmerizing video of how they make a cello by hand.

I’ll be back soon! 😉

Nesting :)

Lately, apart from getting all involved in prepping, I’ve been nesting. Been looking into ways on how to make my home, well homier, if there is such a word.

Yes ladies and gentlemen, I have a Pinterest addiction. There is a Pottery Barn literally walking distance from my house and I decided to poke around. I got awesome inspirations, especially for couches, which I have to say is my new obsession. Though I have had a healthy obsession with my bedroom too…

I don’t LIKE this bedroom per se, but I DO love that pattern on the duvet.

The rug and bedside table are awesome.

I’m liking the bedframe in this one; sort of minimalist four poster.

I love everything about this room, including the greenish hue.

I imagine being here in a colder season, like autumn and winter… If I lived in a place that had cold weather.

The sheets look awesome.

I love the color palette to this room.

I can’t decide also if I really like that bed frame….

bedroom inspiration12

I love sloping ceilings! And again that bed frame.

Love the lighting and the trunk!

Heaven! 🙂

As you can see, most of my room inspirations are really light and airy. I like having subdued tones, except for that one dark one, which I imagine would be my room if I ever live somewhere with a winter again.

But oh, I do love this couch I saw yesterday in Pottery Barn.

It’s simple and understated and I doubt my Dorkat will have anything to paw. And since I have a little space downstairs, this can be a little longer, with a rocking chair in the end. Hopefully paired up with this lovely table that I’ve been dreaming about since forever and West Elm finally got it!

Ah well. I think I’ll do the next best thing and get these made custom 🙂 It will probably come out cheaper and last longer too. I’ll see what I can do. For now, there should be enough space for the punkus to run around with his little scooter. He’ll be mad if he can’t ram it into the wall anymore!

What are your thoughts for your home? Do you have any advice for me on where to get started with these pieces?

Leaving you with some Simon and Garfunkel. Always gets me cosy, this song 🙂

The future is bright

To all those who are reading this and are part of a company, one that you have a personal vested interest in, how do you start thinking of the future?

The future itself is such an awesome thing, isn’t it? So full of possibilities and realised dreams.  Things that aren’t even thought of can become reality and if I’m anything to go by, almost to the other end of the imaginary spectrum from where I started 15 years ago.

These days I’ve been wanting to up my game professionally, and though yes, there are so many resources that are now online and at our fingertips, it is still very hard to try and sift through everything to really see what you need.  Reading and watching everything from Wikipedia to TedTalks and YouTube “how tos” are beginning to say the same thing as the last thing you watched / read / heard.

So I ask myself and those 2 people reading this (ha ha!): where ELSE do you find good advice about how to move forward with your business? How do you take it to the next level? And how do you do it if you’re the only person IN THE COMPANY? It should be easier, shouldn’t it?

I’d appreciate any insights you guys have for me. LATERS!

Always a good tune 🙂
